Sarah loves a good story. She is very interested in culture and how cultural influences affect the stories we tell about ourselves. Sarah enjoys working with clients to first hear and then explore personal storylines; unpacking how these stories work to create identity of self. She sees counselling as a way to help people identify problematic stories and to become aware of how these can influence our mental health. Inviting her clients to share their stories, Sarah facilitates discovery of tools that may be used to reshape life events, old and new, into narratives of hope. She creates opportunity for change by employing an eclectic approach with aspects of narrative therapy and mindfulness practices within a safe and confidential therapeutic space. Sarah works diligently to maintain an open and accepting atmosphere, meaning that she is warm to, and invites all identities, cultures, and orientations into her counselling space. Her aim is to create an environment that feels safe and inspires growth.

Sarah holds Masters degrees in Applied Neuropsychology (MSc from the University of Nottingham (2008), and Counselling Psychology (MCCP) from Athabasca University (2018). She is a Certified Clinical Counsellor registered with the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association.

Fun fact: Sarah has travelled the world extensively, to nearly 40 countries, and she has lived and worked in Canada, the United Kingdom, and Sweden. She loves to see new places, taste new foods, and learn about new cultures. Her international work and life experience allow her to bring a unique multicultural perspective to her counselling.
